Thank you for taking the time to learn about Urban Massage Therapy.

Urban Massage Therapy was established in 2013, with the intention to help others to reduce stress and foster a sense of well-being in their daily lives. Work, family, school, and responsibilities all take it's toll on us physically and emotionally.  My desire was to create an atmosphere where each client can come into the studio and leave their cares behind but more importantly, leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Human touch (done with intention) is healing, therapeutic and fundamentally basic to our health and wellness. It is beneficial for body, mind, and spirit. While visiting you can expect to receive conscientious and thoughtful bodywork that is focused on your specific needs. I take pride in providing an escape from the daily hustle and bustle, allowing you the space to take much needed time for yourself.

My background is unique and I feel that allows me to bring experiences to the client that better focus on their needs.  I am a firm believer that stress causes most of our modern day aches, pains and illness. Those stress patterns sometimes stop us from moving in a forward direction in life, thus ultimately preventing our ability to present the best version of ourselves. When we can't move physically, we get "stuck" in pain patterns. A healthy goal for all of us to work towards is having a more focused, pain-free approach in our daily lives. That's why providing relief through massage therapy/bodywork has been so rewarding.

In July of 2015, I retired from military life with a combination of 28 years of service in the U.S. Air Force and Rhode Island Air National Guard.  It has been nothing short of a wonderful transition from serving our country in this capacity. During this time, I had the honor to be an advocate for those suffering from sexual assault/abuse. This distinctive training expanded my personal capacity for empathy to those experiencing trauma.  I feel that the culmination of the years of one-on-one training in the military in conjunction with my education has allowed me to work now with clients and understand their individual stress levels and how to manage that from a structural perspective.

My education includes several degrees and certifications in Aerospace Mechanics, Education & Training Management, Knowledge/Information Management, and Business Management.  I am also currently finishing a Bachelors degree in Sports & Fitness Sciences.  Additional training includes licensing in Cosmetology as well Therapeutic Massage.
